Reflections of Faith–Accountability

Sunday is a day of reflection. It’s a time to reflect on the past week as well as look ahead to the upcoming days. Each new week is filled with opportunity, challenges, successes and defeats. Thing is we don’t know which we’ll face.

In some cases every opportunity or challenge has the potential to bring either success or defeat. God leaves that decision up to us. He gave us free will to make our own choices. Therefore, He allows us to choose whether we see the glass half full or half empty. What we must remember is that God sees the contents of our glass as perfect. Never is there a time that our glass has too little, or too much. What’s in that glass will always satisfy our proverbial thrist, and our eternal souls.

So why do we not see this simple concept?

Because we won’t let ourselves. Satan preaches self-reliance. (I don’t know why because he already knows how the story will end.) He’s managed to weave his self-centered ideology into the American way of life. Society tells us we should be accountable to ourselves, “be true to yourself.” Thing is, if we are accountable to ourselves, where does that place God?

My thought is we shouldn’t be accountable to ourselves, but for ourselves. That’s the way things will go on judgement day. We won’t be answering to our soul for what we have and haven’t done, we’ll be answering to the Great Almighty.

If you have any questions about where you’ll spend eternity, leave a comment, or send an email to rclark[dot]writer[at]live[dot]com. I’ll be happy to help you sort things out.

God bless 🙂
