“The Gatekeepers”–Rhonda’s Review

The Gatekeepers, Dreamhouse Kings Book 3

by Robert Liparulo

Book three of the Dreamhouse Kings Series, Gatekeepers, picks up where Watcher in the Woods leaves off. The boys are still searching for their mother in the worlds that lay beyond the attic portals. The strange man known as Taksidian is still trying to get the King family out of this unusual house. When a past resident of the home arrives out of the blue, the King family learns the truth behind Taksidian’s motives. How to stop him remains a mystery. Finding their lost loved ones remains a bigger mystery.

Robert Liparulo has quickly become one of my favorite authors. He’s able to pull you in immediately, and keep you there until he lets go. This complex story is written in bite size segments that are not overwhelming, but filled with action. Gatekeepers is written with teens in mind, but I found it completely satisfying. You will want to go with the publisher’s recommendation to read House of Dark Shadows and Watcher in the Woods before reading Gatekeepers. It answers a lot of questions from the first two books. I haven’t read House of Dark Shadows, but look for my review sometime next month.

· Character—Don’t have one particular that stands out over the others. All are strong.

· Part—The hair. Very ingenious, and funny.

· Character—Didn’t really have one in particular.

· Part–None

Robert Liparulo has received rave reviews for both his adult novels (Comes a Horseman, Germ, and Deadfall) and the first two novels in his Dreamhouse Kings series for young adults (House of Dark Shadows, Watcher in the Woods). He is an avid scuba diver, swimmer, reader, traveler, and a law enforcement and military enthusiast. He lives in Colorado with his wife and four children.
