“Fruit of My Lipstick”–My Review

Today I’m focusing on book 2 of the All About Us Series, The Fruit of My Lipstick. This book is nominated for a 2009 Christy Award. It’s a fantastic story with a great message. Remember, if you leave a comment, you’ll have a chance to win a set of the All About Us Series, Books 1-4. This would be a great middle school graduation gift.

With the past behind them, Gillian, Lissa and Carly return to Spenser Academy for another term. Gillian wants nothing more than to focus on her studies so her parents will be pleased. There’s only one problem with that, and his name is Lucas. He’s smart, adorable, and shares her faith. Focusing on her studies becomes more difficult as Lucas demands more of her time. He even becomes a source of contention between her and her friends.

When the school’s staff becomes aware that exams are being sold, Gillian becomes a prime suspect. Now she must rely on her faith, as well as mend friendships, while she exposes the real cheater before she’s expelled.

This is as wonderful as the first book in the series. Again, Shelley Adina makes the grade while she shows the youth of today how to persevere through trials. How standing strong with only your faith isn’t the easiest task in the world, and how the right friends make all the difference. This is a book that all high school girls should read.

Favs (without spoilers):
Character—Definitely Shani. To some degree, I could see myself.
Part—When her friends stand up in her defense.
Character—Source 10, I hate cheaters
Part—Angel Island. Completely disrespectful (the jerk)
